PIPER'S SESSION DETAILS:
|
Our Piper’s Pix photo shoots are fun and easy-going, in keeping with the natural and casual style of my photography. Along with my cameras and lenses, I bring yummy treats and engaging toys for your dog or cat and lots of fun noises. I’ve been a dog and cat owner for many years and am comfortable communicating with them.
How to book? Please email me via the Contact page to begin the booking process. I book a limited number of sessions per month in order to give your photos the time and attention they require, both during the shoot and in post-process. I want each client to be thrilled with their photos. Bear in mind that weather sometimes forces us to postpone or reschedule, but this is rare.
How long? Each session lasts from one to one-and-a-half hours, the first 15 minutes being introduction time. I want your animal to be comfortable with me and stress-free. Sometimes, a short conditioning course of treats is needed to warm them up to the sound of the camera’s shutter. I like to take my time and get to know your dog or cat.
Location? You may choose a location, or I can suggest one of our favorites. It’s important to consider the breed, size, and color of your dog, and whether they are water dogs, hunters, herding dogs, etc. We want the location to reflect your particular dog. For cats, we photograph in your home. I usually do shoots along the Front Range of Colorado, but I’m willing to negotiate traveling to another site.
How to choose a location? Consider a local park, favorite trail, swimming hole, or wherever your pooch feels comfortable and happy. Pick a spot that has special meaning for you. Also, consider a “moving” location with a variety of backdrops, textures, trees, sky or buildings. This might be your back yard.
What time of day? I prefer to shoot outdoors, since natural lighting is always the best. Weather and time of day will be crucial, and we’ll consult over the right conditions for your particular shoot. Indoors is good, too. You may need to open blinds, move objects or distractions from the rooms we choose indoors. It’s easier to remove distractions from the actual scene than have to remove them in post-production.
Will my dog cooperate? Some dogs are more unruly than others, but with patience, I can work with all of them. I’m an experienced dog owner and have seen it all! The less anxious you are, the less anxious your dog will be. We’ll just enjoy the quirks!
Can I be in the photo? Absolutely. I often shoot family members with their animals.
What if my dog is ill? We pay special attention to the scheduling of senior and ailing dogs, especially ones with little time left. We call these Honor Sessions and take whatever time is needed to honor your faithful companion and your special bonds. I give Honor Sessions priority in scheduling and take extra care, knowing your memories depend on it.
Additional fees:
For households of 4 pets or more, inquire about pack rates. Multiple locations are available at an added charge. These would have to be negotiated at the time of booking.
